Exams and cleanings
A look at your teeth, gums and bite, and a cleaning to remove the plaque and tartar you can't brush away. For anyone who wants to know where their mouth stands.

What happens
Step by step
One visit, about an hour the first time and shorter after. Dr. Briones decides how often you come back, often every six to twelve months.
- 01
Step 1: You talk first
Dr. Briones asks what you've noticed and what worries you.
- 02
Step 2: She checks
Your teeth, gums and bite, with X-rays only when she needs them.
- 03
Step 3: Rima cleans
She removes plaque and tartar and shows you what she sees along the gumline.
- 04
Step 4: You leave with a plan
What, if anything, needs treatment, and what it would cost, in writing.
Good to know
Comfort, waiting, risks and cost
Comfort
Tell us if anything is uncomfortable and we'll pause. Ask about a numbing gel for tender gums.
If you wait
Plaque and tartar left on your teeth can inflame your gums, and a small problem found late is usually a bigger one to repair. Some people skip a cleaning when money is tight; that's what the club is for.
Risks and after-care
Gums can be tender or bleed a little afterward, and teeth can feel sensitive to cold for a day or two. Call us if it lasts or gets worse.
How it's billed
In the club, two exams and two cleanings a year are in the yearly fee. If you aren't a member, the fee for each visit is quoted before we start.

Questions
Questions about exams and cleanings
How often should I come?
Dr. Briones decides after your exam. Many people come twice a year; some need to come more often.
Do I need X-rays every time?
No. She takes them when she needs to see what the eye can't, and tells you why.
What if my gums bleed?
Tell us. Bleeding can mean the gums are inflamed. Rima and Dr. Briones will show you where, and what to do about it.
Provided by a general dentist
Your care is provided by Dr. Graciela Briones, a general dentist. Ask for a visit, and get the fee in writing first.
