How fees work

Here is how paying works, starting with what most of our patients do.

  • If you pay yourself

Most of our patients pay for their own dental care. You can pay for each visit, or join the Briones Club for a set yearly fee that covers routine exams and cleanings. The club is not insurance. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • The yearly club, for routine visits

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It lists each step we expect and its fee, with the member fee shown if you belong to the club.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each step and its fee

    • Take it home before you decide

  • Insurance we work with

We are out of network with every dental plan, and we don't file claims. If your plan reimburses a dentist outside its network, our receipt lets you ask it to pay you back; the plan decides what it covers.

    • Out of network with every dental plan

    • We don't file claims

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we give you an itemized receipt you can send to a plan that reimburses out-of-network care. Whether it pays, and how much, is the plan's decision.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes on request

  • Checking your benefits

We don't check benefits, because we don't bill plans. If you have a plan with a dental benefit, call the number on your card and ask what it pays for a dentist outside its network. Medicare generally doesn't pay for routine dental care; ask your own plan what it covers.

    • Call the number on your card

    • Ask about dentists outside its network

  • What the first visit includes

About an hour: a talk about what worries you, an exam by Dr. Briones, X-rays only if she needs them, and a written estimate for any work you need. Fill in your health history on our private patient portal, not by email or in the contact form.

    • A talk, then an exam

    • X-rays only if needed

    • Health history on the portal

The practice replaces these answers with its own.
